| In 1968 I have made a documentary movie for Pete Townsend
dedicated to the harmonica. It was called "Harmonica". It was
shown at the “The Screen on the Green” at Notting Hill.
I did some session work in the 60's - largely folk, rock and
blues. This enabled me to play with people such as: Johnny Weider
(Ex-Family and Animals), Alex Dmchowski (Zappa, Aynsley Dunbar etc), Peter
Green (jam session only), Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Davey Graham, Annie
Briggs, Davey Payne (Spontaneous Music Ensemble, Blockheads), Jimmy Winston
(Winston's Fumbs, Small Faces) and others. In the 80's, I played with
"The Wolves" (R'n'B) and several other bands.
I have done a lot
of duo and trio work in jazz, blues and folk.I am the founder of the East
London Acoustic Music Workshop, a lottery-funded project making
top-rate music workshops which was available to the local community, free of charge.I also ran the connected East
London Music Collective which held a free session every week where we worked
on songs together, taught each other, jammed and networked.
I have backed Wizz Jones
and played at Greenwich Jazz Festival and Merton Abbey Mills Blues Festival
with Jimmy Sticks and at Zottegem More Blues Festival 2000
with Roland Van Campenhout.
Work in the 90's included playing
the folk club and Irish circuit with various duos including with singer Joe
Kerr. Recording and gigging with the 'Ugly Band'.
Gigging with my own band
"Dave Toussaint and The Preachers' and recording sessions for
Strawheid Productions.Played with 'Break in the
Clouds' for about two years - a band run by Phil Baker, a songwriter in
blues/folk/jazz-country idiom. (The band also featured Sardinian guitar
wizard Davide Sanna).
We also do some jump-jive and some Eastern European
and
Mediterranean
influenced songs. I am working on a CD
with Jimmy Sticks and I hope to make more CDs over the next year or so.I have done some recording
projects with Paul Jennings ('Gathering Crowd', Retrodisiak, 'Freshblood
Posse', Jasper) and I did one session with psychedelic funksters 'Acid
Monkey').
I also accompanied Tony Moore live on the internet from The
Kashmir club (6
Nottingham
Place W1, Baker
St. tube). This was one of the first ever such events.I've done some session work for
BBC Television.
I am still doing sessions from time to time and
did some 'dance' tracks for Basil Simonenko, one for
Johny Dark "Grave Mistake" a psychogothabilly recording at In
Heaven studios.
Released on 'Skully Records'. In July this year I did a session for African soul jazz singer Chinoya.Currently
teach harmonica and have given lessons to some of the top players.
I
joined "Steam Radio"in October '02. This band included Roland
Chadwick and Barrimore Barlow (ex-Jethro Tull
drummer).
