Update to XMAS 2006 Finally!
This past year or so I have spent a
lot of time in Asia, particularly in Thailand. In Chiang Mai I
have been playing at “The Brasserie”, Chiang Mai’s no.1
blues spot with the amazing and renowned guitarist “Took”.
For example check this website: http://www.geocities.com/~johni32/page27.html. There are many
others about “Took” and “The Brasserie”. He even
gets mentioned in “The Lonely Planet Guide to Thailand”.
I am playing at my peak with this
guy; we have done some recordings together and I have been playing at his
club at least two nights a week.
|
|
|
Also in Chiang Mai I have been
playing with local musicians such as “Ton”,
“Apple”, and “Tommi”; “Por” and “The
University Jazz Band “+ Farang line ups such as “Rudi”
and the “Funkin’ Donuts”, “Richie Castro”,
“Warren Simpson”, “Scott Jones”,
“Pavel”, the fillipino band “Music and Faces”,
“The Guitar Man” house band and many others at “The
C.M.Bar”, “Jai Yen Café”, The
“Inter-Bar”,
“The Sax Bar”, “The Hug Bar”, “The
English Pub”, “The Irish Bar”, “Blue
Mondays” at “The Grotto”, “The Factory”
“The Lotus Hotel”, “Top North Hotel”, “The
Garden” (Walking Street), “Pol music” (Jet Quay) and
others.
|
|
|
In Bangkok at “The Saxophone”,
“Tokyo Joe’s” and especially with the extraordinary and
brilliant guitarist “Phong” and other great musicians at the
“Ad Here Bar” near Khao
San Road.
In Pattaya a brief appearance at
the “Blues Factory”.
|
|
|
In China
I blew some harp at “Mai’s Place” in Jinghong, and in Kunming at the
“Camel Bar” and “The Speak Easy”.
In Singapore I played with some
wonderful blues guys musicians at “The Crazy Elephant” and at
“The Roomful of Blues”.
|
|
|
Back in the UK in
June 2006 I did a gig with “Davide Sanna” and “Eric
Ranzoni” at the “Kings Head Theatre/Bar”, Islington and
a live BBC radio programme with new indie band “H.Pisces”.
Yes I have been busy!
|
|
|
Future plans:
In November I will be back in Bangkok to play with
“Phong” and company at the “Ad Here”. I am also
having talks regarding the Phuket Blues and Jazz Festival, I will be
working on a new recording project with “Scott Jones” and
playing with “Warren Simpson” and his new line up.
|
|
|
Meanwhile, check out some old
friends of mine “Stephane Bourquin” and “Sonny
West” who have a fantastic new band “The Congo Faith
Healers” www.congofaithhealers.com. I’d like
to play with them but I am still working on it!
|
|
|
I have written some new songs and
may record them soon for my next CD. I will keep you posted.

Latest
work includes an art film project soundtrack for John Malkovich entitled
"The Hideous Man". Worked with Tom Clark and Andrew Raiher.
The CD "Dangerous Dave
Toussaint -The Dealer" is now available, and includes
tracks that are sampled on this site. This collection of tunes and songs
were largely the work of longterm partner Jimmy Sticks who produced the
album and performs on most of the tracks.

Davide Sanna has left Break In The Clouds. I still
occasionally guest with him. He now works with various forms, solo, duo,
etc. performing mostly his own songs.
|
|
|
|
|
Break
In The Clouds is becoming two bands. The first band, Boogiemouth, will be a blues
boogie and jump jive outfit. This is the band I'll be playing with. The
other band will be called Phil Baker And Friends.
We will
play out all pre-booked gigs as Break In The Clouds.

I'm waiting to hear a
confirmation of a planned tour of the Baleares and West Spain.
